St. Brigid Lexington

Pouch board all cleaned. Heat, steam, sanding and MEK. Resin glue does NOT belong in organ building!

Saint Brigid, Lexington

Starting the Great pull down machine releathering. Really cheesy previous job. New leather right over the rotten Perflex. Leather also way too thick at 0.022 ". I will use 0.012 'roo. Wait till I show you the pallet pneumatics.

Rocheorgel project

Spent much of the day cleaning and lacquering the Gedeckt pipes that will be visible through the facade. So many changes to this little organ that it will be losing its Roche moniker.

Rocheorgel project

Manual pipes in. Many hours of fussing to clean up all the leaks and murmurs. The original builder chose open grain mahogany for the toeboards, which was a very poor choice! At 2" pressure it only takes a slight bleed through the grain to cause pipes to murmur. Work to do on the flute caps.

First United Methodist, Melrose MA

Flash!! This just in! Seems the previous repairer only did HALF the primary. I imagine the Great is the same.

First United Methodist, Melrose MA

James Cole electric primary. Some dead notes. Wind bleed out the magnet when played. Expected bad leather...nope! Can't remove magnet to check the disc without removing the primary because cover screws are under the swell box frame! You wonder why some builders did not survive.

We made them fit. The new rank will be available at 8' and 4'. 73 pipes.

Rocheorgel

Started installing valves for new rank of pipes. Very tight; original toeboards not drilled very accurately.
